CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) – There’s a new face at the Roger Williams Park Zoo and it’s safe to say, it’s already pretty nosey.

The zoo took to social media Thursday to welcome a new baby giant anteater, Mochila.

They say the new addition to the park was born Wednesday and both Mom and Mochila are doing well.

In accordance to how giant anteaters live in the wilderness, the zoo is keeping a distance from the baby. They’re letting the Mom, Delilah, and baby Mochila “remain in seclusion in their barn for a while to ensure they are bonding and the baby is nursing and gaining strength.”

What about Dad? Well, according to the zoo, the males don’t take part in raising their children so he’s living in his own enclosure near the flamingos.

The zoo says Mochila is a night owl, preferring to sleep during the day and be active at night.
