East Providence man charged after threatening to shoot random people because Patriots signed Antonio Brown
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE): An East Providence man was charged after he posted to Facebook that he would shoot random people in Foxboro because the Patriots signed Antonio Brown.
Tobias Gray, 44, appeared in court in Providence on Monday, wearing a New York Giants jersey.
His attorney said it all started with a now-deleted Facebook post.
"He was reacting to the Patriots obtaining Antonio Brown," Stefanie DiMaio Larivee, representing Gray, said. "Just like everyone else, he was reacting as a fan. His opinion. Nothing he said was meant to be taken seriously."
Gray was in court in Providence on unrelated charges. He was arrested for domestic assault and also charged with making threats to officers during the arrest.
In Rhode Island, he is being held on a $25,000 bail. Tobias is still wanted in Massachusetts for Threatening to Commit a Crime and Uttering a Terroristic Threat.
He waived extradition to Massachusetts and is expected to be arrested in the next 2 days.
