PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College men’s soccer team came away with a win,1-0, against cross-town rival Brown University on Wednesday night (Sept. 25) on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium.

GAME FLOW & NOTES
- Mathew Chow gave Brown their first chance to score in the 24th minute. Chow beat the defender and got a shot off right outside the goal area that Austin Aviza (Medway, Mass.) was able to save.
- Tiago Mendonca (Faro, Portugal) nearly scored for the Friars on a header in the 39th minute off a corner kick. Joao Serrano (Elvira, Portugal) crossed the ball from right that Mendonca was able to connect on but was saved by a defender diving across the net. 
- In the 77th minute Serrano passed the ball up the field to sophomore Ramzi Qawasmy (Landsdale, Pa.) who was able to control the ball off the defender and scored dead-center from the top of the box.
- The Friars outshot Brown 22-3, allowing the Bears only one shot in the second half.
- Aviza recorded his fourth-consecutive shutout and his sixth on the season.

1-0 (PC) – 76:02/2nd – Ramzi Qawasmy (Serrano) – Serrano passed the ball up to Qawasmy who was able to recover the ball off a defender and score from the edge of the box.

The Friars head on the road to play their second BIG EAST match of the season at No. 2 Georgetown on Saturday, Sept. 28. The game is set for kick-off at 1:00 p.m. on Shaw Field in Washington, D.C. The game will be aired on the BIG EAST Digital Network.
