PROVIDENCE, R.I (WLNE) - Providence Police are investigating a double shooting that happened in the early hours of Sunday morning that injured one and killed another. 

The shooting happened around 2:00 a.m, and according to police, took place in the area of Detroit Avenue and Broad Street. 

The women involved were leaving the area of Noah Lounge before the shooting but, both were walking to their cars when the shooting happened.

The victims are identified at this time as 19-year old Berta Perreira-Roldan and 38-year-old  Crystal Peloquin.

The Peloquin was rushed to the hospital for serious injuries, while the 19-year-old was fatally injured.

Police believe there is a possibility that the two males were the targets and the women hit were
innocent by-standers.

According to the department, no suspects have been apprehended at this time.

Detectives are unsure if they are looking for one or multiple gunmen but are following some leads.

“This is a tragic weekend for our city and we’re going to have to work hard to solve this crime,” said Lapatin.
