PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE): The Providence Police Department held its first "Fall Festival Open House" on Saturday afternoon.

The event was free and open to the public at the Mounted Command Stables in Roger Williams Park.

The event gave the community the chance to tour and meet eight police horses, their handlers, and officers.

"Typically we meet folks out on assignment so we thought it would be a nice way to invite people into our home," Sgt. Steven Courville, with the Providence Police Mounted Command, said.

There was also face painting, lawn games, and a petting zoo.
