Couple pleads for return of stolen family heirloom

LINCOLN, R.I. (WLNE) - A precious family heirloom was stolen from a couple in Lincoln and now they are desperate to get it back.
A three-paneled room divider was stolen out of the couple's trunk while they were eating dinner at church.
They don't know how much it's worth, but to Linda Guadette, it's priceless. The divider is the last physical memory of her mother she has.
"My mother lived in Colorado, so I didn't see her very often. She had bought the divider and I asked my sister if that was the one thing I could have," said Linda.
She was using the divider in her bridal shop until about a week and a half ago. That's when she was cleaning out the store and tried bringing the divider home.
"It wouldn't fit in the car, so we put it in the trunk," said Linda's husband, Robert Gaudette.
The divider stuck out of the trunk slightly. They wanted to bring it straight home but got a flat tire on the way. By the time the flat was repaired, they were running late for dinner at their church, so they went straight to Christ Church in Lincoln.
"We went in, stayed maybe ¾ of an hour, and when we went back to the car, it was gone," said Robert.
"How do you steal in front of a church?" said Linda.
The trunk was full of other bridal items from their store. Everything was stolen. But the divider is the only thing the Gaudette's want back.
"I just can't imagine taking it. It doesn't mean anything to them, but it really means something to me," said Linda. "I just would like it back"
The couple is asking whoever took the divider to please return it to Christ Church at 1643 Lonsdale Ave, Lincoln, RI 02865. They said they will not press charges.
