Navy's John Carter scored a career high 26 points, including nine straight points to key a decisive 26-6 run to end the game, lifting the Midshipmen (4-3) to a 76-56 win over Brown (4-3) Saturday afternoon at the Pizzitola Sports Center.

In a closely contested game, the lead changed 15 times before the Midshipmen took control. With the score tied 50-50 with eight minutes remaining, Carter hit two consecutive 3-point baskets and converted a three-point play to give Navy a 59-52 advantage. The Navy surge continued with Cam Davis scoring 10 points as the Midshipmen finished the game by outscoring the Bears 26-6.

"Give Navy a lot of credit," said Brown head coach Mike Martin. "They are a well-coached, disciplined team who competed for every ball. The game was even with eight minutes remaining when Carter scored nine straight points. We have enough talent to win, but we can't let our guard down."

Senior Brandon Anderson (Mahwah, NY) paced the Bears with 19 points and five rebounds, while senior Zach Hunsaker (North Salt Lake City, UT) tossed in 14 points.

Bears' junior Tamenang Choh (Lowell, MA) also scored in double figures with 11 points. Junior Matt DeWolf (Barrington, RI) had eight points and eight rebounds, and sophomore Jaylan Gainey (Greensboro, NC) blocked a career high four shots.

Carter's 26 points came on 6-of-18 shooting overall, including 6-of-12 treys. Davis' 24 points were a career high on 6-of-12 shooting from the field and 10-of-12 shooting from the free throw line.

Neither team held much of an advantage in the opening half with seven lead changes. In the end, Carter's layup late in the half gave the Midshipmen a 27-26 lead at intermission.

Brown opened the second half with a 9-2 run to pull ahead by a 35-29 margin following a trey by Anderson with 16:50 remaining.

With the score tied, 50-50, Carter connected on back-to-back treys to lift the Midshipmen to a 56-50 advantage with 6:50 left in the game.

The Bears are back in action again at home on Wednesday, December 4, hosting Merrimack at the Pizzitola Sports Center. Tip-off is 7:00 pm on ESPN+ and WPRV-AM 790.
