Strange odor sends two people from the post office to the hospital

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – Around 8:30 Saturday morning the Providence Fire Department responded to a call for reports of a strange odor and a person feeling dizzy and faint at the post office distribution center on 24 Corliss Street in Providence.

The fire department responded to the scene with two fire companies. Upon arrival, a second person on location reported similar symptoms of feeling weak and dizzy.

Fire crews searched packages at the facility and no leaks were found. The fire department says the cause could be a slew of reasons.

Both individuals who reported symptoms were taken to the hospital for treatment.

The scene was cleared and given the okay to let staff back inside around Noon.
