Structure fire destroys Preston home

PRESTON, Conn. (WLNE) — The Preston Fire Department said they responded to a structure fire on Cedarcrest Drive last night.

Fire officials said at 10:30 p.m., they found a one story home well-involved after a fire broke out in the garage and spread through the rest of the home.

Norwich, Mohegan Tribe FAST, Mashantucket, East Great Plains and others were called in for water and additional manpower, authorities said.

Preston fire officials further thanked those who assisted on scene and the Griswold and Ledyard Fire Departments for covering the Preston station.

Connecticut State Police and American Red Cross also provided aid at the scene.

Information regarding injuries was not immediately available.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Preston Fire Marshal’s Office.
