BOSTON, Mass. (WLNE)- A shooting occurred in the parking lot of TechBoston Academy Tuesday night.

WCVB-TV reported on the incident, confirming the following details.

The victims, a 31-year-old teacher and 17-year old student, were shot in the parking lot while preparing for an event.

Superintendent Dr. Brenda Cassellius explained that the academy will not hold classes on Wednesday, but the school will be open for counseling.

“Obviously, this is a very concerning and disturbing set of circumstances,” said Boston Police Superintendent-in-Chief Gregory Long. “Schools are supposed to be a safe haven for our students and our teachers, not a place where they’re subjected to brazen and random acts of violence.”

“This is an unacceptable situation and we are going to do everything it takes to ensure that each one of our schools, parks and communities are the safe, welcoming homes that all of our students deserve,” said Boston Mayor Michelle Wu.

At this time no one has been arrested.
