Summery weather Friday, cooling down over the weekend

PROVIDENCE, RI  (WLNE) — Temperatures maxed out in the upper 70s and low 80s on Thursday, and we will continue to warm by another 2-5° on Friday.

High pressure situated to our south will keep our weather pattern generally quiet over the next several days. A  weak shot of energy brought some fast-moving showers to the area this evening, and we will see the exact scenario unfold on Friday.

Mother’s Day Weekend looks very good. Saturday will be warm and partly sunny skies and a slight chance of a stray shower. Sunday will be sunny and cooler.

Southern New England saw some minor improvements on Thursday’s new drought monitor, but not a lot of wet weather is expected over the next week plus, so things could go in the other direction going forward.
