Suspect Arrested in Mall Bank Robbery
On Saturday, July 10, 2010, at approximately 4:58 PM, a robbery occurred at the Citizens Bank branch located inside the Stop & Shop at the Lincoln Mall. Witnesses reported that a lone suspect, described as a white male between 25 and 30 years of age, handed a teller a note demanding money. The suspect left the store through the north entrance with an unknown amount of cash. The suspect did not display a weapon and there were no injuries during the incident.
Within a short time after the incident, surveillance photos of the suspect were circulated within the Lincoln Police Department, and officers were able to identify the suspect as 29 year old Andrew Shepard, whose last known address was Warwick, RI. Further investigation found that an outstanding arrest warrant existed for Shepard's involvement in a robbery at the Citizens Bank branch located inside the Stop & Shop on Mendon Road in Cumberland, on July 3, 2010.
The investigation led detectives to North Attleboro, Ma., where Shepard was located and arrested by the North Attleboro Police Department at the Pineapple Inn, on Route 1 in North Attleboro. Shepard will be arraigned on Monday at the Attleboro District Court, as a fugitive from justice. Shepard will later be formally charged with 2nd degree robbery by the Lincoln Police Department.
