A Charlestown man was arrested Wednesday for a sexual assault that took place on the University of Rhode Island campus.

After an investigation, 22-year-old Angelo Fraley was arrested and charged with first-degree sexual assault. The alleged assault took place in a secluded area on the Narragansett Bay Campus on June 30th.

The 18-year-old victim reported the assault to Narragansett Police, who then turned the case over to URI once it was determined that the assault had taken place on University property. The victim told police she was familiar with the suspect.

Neither Fraley or the victim had ties to URI.

Fraley was arraigned Wednesday morning and charged with first-degree sexual assault. He is being held at the ACI pending a bail hearing on September 16th.
