Suspect in deadly Providence shooting due in court

By: Melissa Randall

The man accused of killing a young father from Providence is due in court Tuesday morning. The suspect, Justice Andrade, turned himself into police Monday afternoon. An arrest warrant was issued over the weekend.

Andrade is accused of shooting Ty-Shon Perry early Saturday morning at the intersection of Allston and River Avenue’s. Perry later died at the hospital.

Investigators say Perry was not the intended target. His family tells ABC6 the 20-year-old had just graduated from New England Tech, and was working to become a Rhode Island State Police Trooper. He leaves behind a one year old son.

Perry’s death marks the 10th murder in the city.

In the wake of yet another shooting local political and business leaders have been meeting, and are hoping to get feedback on what can be done to curb the violence.
