A suspect sought in a drive-by killing of a young father has turned himself in and pleaded not guilty to murder and other charges.
Chaquiro Blandino of Providence appeared Wednesday in Superior Court. His lawyer entered not guilty pleas to charges of murder, felony assault, drive-by shooting and three other firearm charges.
Providence police were seeking the 20-year-old Blandino since shortly after Francis Rodriguez and another man were shot in a car in Providence May 2. The other man survived, but the 22-year-old Rodriguez died. He was the father of a girl, now 4 years old.
There was little immediate information about where Blandino had been since police announced in July they were looking for him. Blandino was indicted last summer.
