Suspect in Fall River double shooting facing upgraded murder charges

FALL RIVER, R.I (WLNE) – 18-year-old Jeremy Holmes, the suspect linked to the deadly Fall River shooting from May 18th, is now facing murder charges after he was originally facing charges of carrying an illegal firearm.

A new criminal complaint charging Jeremy Holmes with two counts of murder and one count of assault and battery by means of a firearm was filed late Thursday morning.

Holmes will be arraigned at Fall River District courts on the new charges.

Holmes allegedly was involved in shots fired incident that killed two people near Fall River Park.

The victims were identified as 29-year-old Jovaughn Antonio Mills and 14-year-old Miguel Sanjurjo.

A third victim was transported to an area hospital before being sent to Rhode Island Hospital.

The third victim is expected to recover.
