Suspect in Newport shooting arrested in Fall River

FALL RIVER, MA (WLNE) – The suspect in an April shooting at Festival Field apartment complex in Newport has been arrested.

Fall River Police responded to a North Main Street address around 7:00 p.m. Thursday to meet members of the Newport Police Department and the Rhode Island Violent Fugitive Task Force. Also on scene were members of the U.S. Marshalls, Massachusetts Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section, Massachusetts State Police and Rhode Island State Police.

Units on scene were attempting to locate Calvin Febles, 21, of Middletown, in connection with a shooting at Festival Field on April 24th.

Febles was located in the basement of the North Main Street residence and taken into custody without incident.

Febles was transported to Fall River Police Department where he was processed on a Fugitive from Justice Charge.

Police said Febles will face additional charges in Rhode Island, including Use of a Firearm When Committing a Crime of Violence and Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon.
