Suspect in Providence homicide arrested in New York

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – A suspect in a Providence homicide investigation has been apprehended in New York City, Police said Tuesday.

Sigismund Dantzler, 36, of Providence, was apprehended in Harlem by NYPD officers and US Marshals on April 30th.

Dantzler was wanted in connection with an April 16th homicide in which 36-year-old Jose Luis Santos, of Woonsocket, was shot and killed in the area of Melrose and Mitchell Streets.

Dantzler will be extradited back to Rhode Island to be arraigned.

The case remains under investigation, and police are still attempting to locate at least one additional suspect.
