BOSTON (AP) _ A former Army reservist charged with stealing 16 guns from a U.S. Army Reserve Center in Worcester is expected to make his first court appearance in Massachusetts.

James Walker Morales, of Cambridge, is scheduled to appear in U.S. District Court on Worcester on Friday.

The FBI says the 34-year-old Morales stole six assault rifles and 10 handguns from the Lincoln Stoddard Army Reserve Center in Worcester last month.

Most of the guns have been recovered but several have yet to be found.

Morales was arrested in New York days after the theft.

He faces federal charges of unlawful possession of a machine gun, unlawful possession of stolen firearms, and theft of government property. He also faces unrelated state child rape charges.

His lawyer did not immediately return a message Friday.
