A suspended Woonsocket Police Officer was found guilty of second degree child abuse.

Attorney General Peter Kilmartin announced Thursday that 25-year-old Patrick Cahill was found guilty of physically abusing his nine-year-old sister in August of 2012.

The victim immediately reported the assault to her mother, who called police.

Cahill has been on unpaid administrative leave since the time of his arrest.

Sentencing is scheduled for December.
