SUV catches fire after crash in Smithfield, two injured

SMITHFIELD, R.I (WLNE) – The Smithfield fire department says two people were injured after a fiery two-vehicle crash on Monday.

The department says the crash happened in the area of 85 Douglas Pike at exactly 6:30 AM

The drivers were out of their vehicle by the time first responders arrived, with assistance from passers-by according to the department.

One driver had serious injuries and the other had minor injuries (BLS).

One driver was sent to Fatima Hospital and the other was sent to the Rhode Island Trauma Center.
