Swansea Board of Health closes 2 beaches due to elevated bacteria levels
SWANSEA, R.I. (WLNE) — The Swansea Board of Health said that two beaches in town have been closed.
The board said that Sandy Beach and Cedar Cove are both closed after the Massachusetts Department of Public Health notified the town that elevated bacteria levels were detected at both beaches.
It added that the board tests beaches throughout the season and that both beaches will reopen as soon as bacteria levels return to acceptable levels.
Swansea Town Beach, Coles River Club, and Leeside Club remain open to the public for swimming.
More information and updates on beach closings can be found on the town’s website.
