Swansea Mall bought for $4.6 Million
SWANSEA, Mass. (WLNE) – The Swansea Mall is officially under new ownership.
Hours after the town voted to create a redevelopment authority on May 21, the week-long closing process began, and was completed over Memorial Day Weekend.
Anagnost Companies of New Hampshire” bought the property for $4.6 million, and is already working on plans to bring back life to the once-bustling mall.
“The new owner has expansive plans,” said Swansea Town Selectman Christopher Carreiro. “Some of them include a Swansea Municipal Complex, a new Swansea Town Hall as well as restaurants and entertainment, even housing.”
The company is currently working on an urban renewal plan that would allow the town to take back the mall from under Walmart’s control through eminent domain.
Construction is expected to start within six months to a year of closing.
