Swansea man accused of robbing bank in Fall River

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — A Swansea man is accused of robbing a bank in Fall River.

The robbery happened at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Rockland Trust Bank on Robeson Street.

Police said Nicholas Belmore entered the bank and handed a note to a teller. He then left on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.

Sgt. Moses Pereira said with the help of witnesses, police learned that Belmore fled in a car, which parked nearby.

The witnesses provided police with the description of the vehicle and license plate number.

Pereira said the car was later found and stopped on North Eastern Avenue.

Belmore, who’s 42 years old, was taken into custody without incident.

He was charged with armed robbery while masked.
