Swimmers pulled from the water in Narragansett after a possible shark sighting

NARRAGANSETT, R.I. (WLNE)- Swimmers at Salty Brine and Roger Wheeler state beaches were told to get out of the water after a lifeguard spotted a fin on Monday, according to the DEM.

Both beaches were closed for swimming by beach managers for over an hour from 12:35 p.m. to 1:50 p.m.

The lifeguard spotted the fin about 150 yards off the beach not far from the jetty.

The DEM says that they are unsure if the fin was from a shark or a sunfish.
