Taunton man charged with murder after shooting and killing his wife

TAUNTON, Mass. (WLNE)- A man from Taunton is being charged with murder after shooting and killing his wife on Sunday night.

The Bristol County District Attorney’s office said that 86-year-old Edmund Silveira is being charged with murder.

Initially, Silveira was charged with assault and battery by means of a firearm. That charge has since been upgraded.

He is being held until September 9, when he is set to be in court.
