Taunton man facing felony charges, trafficking heroin

A Taunton man is facing felony charges after police found him allegedly in possession of heroin late Wednesday night. 

29 year old Hector Rodriguez, of Taunton allegedly sped past police on Summer Street at 11:45 p.m. when they attempted to confront him after they were investigating an incident where a trooper was assaulted on July 22nd.  

Police observed him in possession of a substance that appeared to be heroin and a silver Raven Arms 0.25 Caliber firearm before arresting him. 

Rodriguez is being charged with:

•    Use of a Firearm While Committing a Felony
•    Trafficking Heroin
•    Operating with a Suspended License and or Revoked Registration, Subsequent Offense
•    Speeding 
•    Marked Lanes Violation

Police determined he was not the suspect who assaulted the trooper and he was taken to the Bristol County Jail House and held on $25,000 bail. 

He is scheduled to be arraigned in the Taunton District Court.
