More Than 200 Turn Out for Tea Party Rally in RI

NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (AP) – More than 200 people braved the rain in North Kingstown to attend a rally along the route of the Tea Party Express's national “Reclaiming America” bus tour.

The event on Wednesday featured former U.S. Senate candidate Sharron Angle, who unsuccessfully challenged Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada in November with the support of various Tea
Party groups.

Angle said the relatively good turnout in Democratic-leaning Rhode Island shows the Tea Party message is resonating with many voters.

She predicted the Tea Party will be a force to be reckoned with in next year's state and federal elections. She said returning the U.S. Senate to Republican hands is a priority.

The Tea Party Express began a bus tour last month in California with plans to hold rallies in 29 cities.
