Teacher’s aide recognized for saving student’s life at Warren elementary school
WARREN, R.I. (WLNE) — A Bristol Warren Regional School District teacher’s aide is being commended for saving a choking student’s life Wednesday.
The district said Bonnie Dion was monitoring lunch at Hugh Cole Elementary when she was alerted a student was choking.
According to the district, Dion performed the Heimlich Maneuver on the student and was able to clear the obstruction.
“Bonnie is always one of the first people to step up when someone needs help, so it is no surprise that she immediately jumped in to save a student in need,” Principal Colin Grimsey said.
Dion will be formally recognized for her actions at the district’s next school committee meeting.
