Teamsters at RISD strike deal for lesser-paid employees
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Rhode Island School of Design said their movers, custodians, and grounds services staff members voted to accept a proposal on Tuesday.
RISD officials said they finished the formal process of ratifying their contract.
They said it reflects and advances the school’s commitment to social equity and inclusion.
The school stated they are committed to taking immediate and long-term action to better embody their values and priorities about wages for their lowest-paid employees.
Last week, RISD faculty, staff, and students joined the workers on strike — who have been on an open-ended strike since April 3.
Teamsters Local 251 have yet to announce an end date for the strike.
