FALL RIVER, M.A. – 16-year-old Jayden Smith appeared in front of a judge Tuesday after more than 90 days on the run.

Fall River’s most wanted criminal, and the second teen charged in the July murder of a father of three, plead not guilty in Fall River District Court.

Smith faces gun and murder charges.

"The jurors for The Commonwealth of Massachusetts present Jayden Smith did assault and beat Jerrod Cohen with intent to murder him and by such assault and beating did kill said Jerrod Cohen," said a juror.

29-year-old Cohen was shot in the chest outside his Plain Street home on July 11th.

Family and friends say he died protecting them.

Smith was Fall River’s most wanted fugitive and also named on Massachusetts State Police’s Most Wanted List after eluding the authorities since the shooting.

Another teen, Joel Lopez, was also charged with murder in this case back in July.

Both Smith and Lopez are currently being held without bail until trial.
