CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — The Cranston teen accused of murdering his mother’s live-in boyfriend and dumping the body in Attleboro has now been charged as an adult.

Xavier Vidot, 17, admitted to shooting 24-year- old Valdez Loiseau after allegedly witnessing a violent fight between him and his mother Melonie Perez.

The 17-year-old also told police he drove the body to Attleboro with his mother where he placed it in the woods off Prescott Street and then set it on fire.

The teen’s mother, Melonie Perez, was arrested and charged with helping her son cover up the murder. After court, the family’s attorney John Cicilline spoke about the difficulty of the case.

“He’s been through a lot. He was arrested. His mother was arrested and his girlfriend arrested. It’s a lot. I’m going to go see him tomorrow,” said Cicilline. “You can see the anguish on the family’s face. It’s very hard for anyone who is involved in it.”

He was ordered held without bail, and is scheduled to appear in court again in August.
