Teenager dies after boat crash off Dennis

DENNIS, Mass. (WLNE) — The Massachusetts State Police said a teenage girl was killed after a boat crashed into a jetty off Cold Storage Beach in Dennis Friday.

Spokesman David Procopio said that search and rescue efforts were launched around 9 p.m. after one person was reported missing after a boat crashed in Sesuit Harbor.

Six people, including the victim, were reportedly on the boat, with a teenage male being transported to Cape Cod Hospital with a head laceration.

Procopio said that the body of a 17-year-old female was recovered by the Barnstable County Dive Team with assistance from Dennis Fire-Rescue around 11:30 p.m.

He added that dive teams will search the crash site Saturday in accordance with the investigation.

The water search was conducted by the United States Coast Guard, the Barnstable County Dive Team, and the Dennis and Sandwich Fire Departments.

The crash is being investigated by the State Police Detective Unit for the Cape and Islands District, the Cape and Islands District Attorney’s Office, Massachusetts Environmental Police, and Dennis Police with the assistance of the State Police Crime Scene Services Section.
