Temps to soar across Southern New England this week

PROVIDENCE, RI — Let the warmup begin!

After a nice sunny day across the area on Monday, temperatures will jump into the low 70s on Tuesday.

FIRE WEATHER WATCH is in effect on Tuesday and could get upgraded to a warning. In addition to the warmer weather, it will also be be a bit windier and the air will be drier.

More clouds come in Tuesday night, so I expect Wednesday to be a degree or two cooler – but it also means that Wednesday morning will be very mild, in the mid-50s.

The real ‘hot stuff’ arrives Thursday as we will see 80s away from the water. I don’t expect to hit a new record on Thursday, but Friday seems likely.

2 Day Record Highs

Temperatures won’t be the only things up there this week – allergies will be sky-high through Saturday. We are entering peak tree pollen season as is, but this exceptionally warm weather will compound things.

Pollen Forecast

Things will cool off a bit on Saturday as more clouds move in, and we will finally need some form of rain gear come Sunday into Monday as high pressure finally recedes far enough offshore.
