The American Red Cross aids 36 people displaced after two fires

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The American Red Cross is helping 11 families after two fires on Thursday displaced 36 people.

Fifteen adults and 20 children in Woonsocket required assistance after a fire on Rock Ridge Drive.

One person in North Providence also needed aid after a fire on Waterman Avenue.

In addition to providing assistance to the families’ immediate needs, The American Red Cross has given out¬†envelopes containing useful information to help families recover from a fire.

Some of the information included tips on cleanup, important contacts, and dealing with damaged items.

Comfort kits with personal care items such as toothbrushes and deodorant were also provided to the families.

In the next few days, The American Red Cross will connect with the displaced families to work towards a long-term recover plan.
