A group representing taxpayers filed an injunction to stop a ten year contract between the city and a private trash collection company from moving forward.

Mayor Jasiel Correia was elected by promising to wipe out controversial trash fees. The lawsuit wants to stop the mayor’s plan to privatize trash pick up saying it was never approved by the City Council.

Just this week, the city council rejected the mayor’s budget, in part, over the money needed to pay for the garbage contract.
