The Rhode Island Coast Guard, a local fire department, and a good Samaritan responded to two separate emergencies Saturday night.

Coast Guard officials say two people were rescued on Block Island. The boat was out of gas and shifting toward the rocks. The anchor gave out, the vessel flooded, and all five people fell into the water.

They were all wearing life jackets, and were returned safely to shore.

About an hour later, emergency crews reported to another scene. Officials say a boat carrying two adults and a small child near cedar tree point in Greenwich Bay capsized.

A nearby good samaritan rushed in to help them out of the water. No injuries were reported.
