PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Monday commenced the week long celebration of Wreaths Across America.

The annual ceremony was held at the State House to honor America’s veterans and their families.

Celebrations will be held in all 50 states to remember veterans during the holidays.

“Each December on National Wreaths Across America Day, our mission to Remember, Honor and Teach is carried out by coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery, as well as at more than 3,400 additional locations in all 50 U.S. states, at sea and abroad,” said Wreaths Across America.

State officials attended the ceremony in Rhode Island today, sharing remarks of gratitude and respect.

“We know that we’re a better state and a better nation because of the service of your loved ones,” said Gov. Dan McKee.

Ceremonies will take place all week throughout the state to honor veterans.
