SMITHFIELD, R.I. (WLNE) – Police in Smithfield are searching for a pair of beef burglars suspected of stealing thousands of dollars in fresh meat from a local farm.

Owners of Blackbird Farm in Smithfield told police that two men broke into the farm on Douglas Pike around 10:30 p.m. Monday, stealing all of the beef from their freezer.

They said most of the beef was already sold to customers ahead of the Fourth of July holiday.
