URI Football Hosting Third Annual Bone Marrow Drive

Third Annual Rhody Football Bone Marrow Drive To Be Held Thursday
Event will take place from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on the URI Student Quad

KINGSTON, R.I. – Rhode Island football head coach Joe Trainer and the Rhody football team will play host a bone marrow registry drive from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday on the URI student quad.
For the third-consecutive year, Trainer and the URI football program have partnered with the National Marrow Donor Program to take their efforts to the national level.
In two years, the URI football team has generated over 500 new individuals to the national registry.
Earlier this spring, URI junior center Matt Greenhalgh (Chepachet, R.I.), who became a donor through the program two years ago, made donation which will help save a leukemia patient's life.
The test is a simple cheek swab — no blood or needles are involved. The free test lasts no longer than 30 minutes which also includes registration paperwork.

In the event of rain, the bone marrow registry drive will be held in the Memorial Union. For more information on the bone marrow registry drive, contact the Rhode Island football office at 401-874-2406.
