Third correctional officer threatened in 2 weeks

By News Staff

An inmate who was given a liver transplant while locked up is said to have threatened a corrections officer at the ACI.

The Rhode Island brotherhood of correctional officers says that Jose Pacheco wrote a threatening letter to an officer on Monday.

Pacheco is serving a 6 ½ sentence for robbery and in 2012 became the first inmate in Rhode Island to receive an organ transplant.

The union for the brotherhood of correctional officers says this threat is the third one made towards an officer in the last 2 weeks.
