Third “My HomeCourt” Basketball Court Unveiled in Providence

Unveiling ceremony of My HomeCourt 2020, a newly constructed outdoor basketball court featuring artwork by artist Andrea Bergart at Cranston Street Park (126 Cranston Street) in Providence. As part of the ceremony, community members will join city officials and representatives from lead collaborators for a short speaking and ribbon-cutting event.

As a canvas for a vibrant mural by a renowned contemporary artist, the My HomeCourt non-profit worked with Providence Parks and various partners to support and oversee the construction of a totally new outdoor basketball court at the Cranston Street Park location. Providence College Galleries commissioned and curated Brooklyn artist and basketball-culture figure Andrea Bergart to create a design for the basketball court mural. This is the third My HomeCourt project completed in Providence. The first was unveiled at Fargnoli Park in the fall of 2018 and second at Harriet & Sayles Park in fall 2019.

WHEN: Thursday, September 17, 4 – 6pm. Public officials will speak promptly at 4:30

Attendance will be limited to 125 people.

WHY: My HomeCourt (, a collaborative initiative led by the My HomeCourt non profit with support from Providence College Galleries, revitalizes or constructs public basketball courts into colorful, living works of art. Each My HomeCourt project enables community members and cooperating organizations to create vibrant gathering public places that are inspired by their own unique neighborhoods.
