Three arrested in “high-level” drug operation out of Providence

PROVIDENCE, RI (WLNE) – A years long investigation into a drug distribution ring in the capital city came to an end on Wednesday.

Providence police say the investigation resulted in the seizure of nearly 6 kilograms of cocaine and around $38,000. Along with various items used for the distribution of narcotics.

The “high-level narcotics distribution operation” ran out of two different apartments in Providence. One out on Indiana Avenue and the other on Ohio Avenue, police say.

Providence police, with the assistance of United States Postal Service, were able to obtain information about a package that had arrived in the city overnight from Puerto Rico.

The package contained narcotics and was connected to Ernis Paulino Estevez, 31, of Providence. As well as two other females who were involved in the distribution of narcotics.Taveras, L  Depaula, A

Search and seizure warrants were drafted for the addresses of the two different apartments as well as four vehicles that were also involved in the operation, according to police.

Estevez, Taveres and DePaula were charged with possession of more than one kilogram of cocaine, possession with intent to deliver cocaine and conspiracy to violate the RI Uniform Controlled Substance Act and held for court.
