UPDATE: Police identify Providence bank robbery suspect

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – Police have identified the suspect in custody who robbed a Providence bank Saturday morning.

Providence Police said Adam Hanrahan, 33, of West Warwick, was arrested Saturday after robbing the TD Bank located at 180 Westminster Street.

 

Police were called to the bank around 9:30 a.m. for reports of a robbery.

Police said Hanrahan entered the bank and passed a note to the teller demanding cash. The teller complied with the demand and Hanrahan fled on foot toward Kennedy Plaza with an undisclosed amount of cash.

According to Providence Police, the bank teller placed a GPS tracking device in the bag handed to Hanrahan, allowing Police to track his location.

Hanrahan was apprehended a short time later at the Dollar Tree located at 1285 Reservoir Avenue by Cranston Police. 

Cranston Police turned Hanrahan over to the Providence Police Department to be processed.

Hanrahan faces 2nd Degree Robbery charges.
