WOONSOCKET, RI (WLNE) – Woonsocket police have arrested three men connected to a Monday evening shooting that injured a 16-year-old.

Luis Vargas, 18, Gerson Rivera, 20, and Angel Bermudez, 21, all from Woonsocket, were the three men arrested.

Police say they received multiple ‘shots fired’ calls around 11:40 p.m. Monday at 163 Morin Heights Blvd. One of the calls indicated that a 16-year-old was injured and possibly hit by a bullet.

Police say the three men arrested were also at the address on Morin Heights Boulevard and were calling for a male juvenile who was in the area to meet them to discuss a previous incident.

Police say that male juvenile they were calling, along with several other juveniles and one adult male met the three suspects.

As the discussion went on between the groups involved, Rivera fired several shots into the air.

While the group scattered and ran from the shots, Vargas grabbed the gun that Rivera used and fired several shots directly at the group running away.

A 16-year-old female was grazed by a bullet in the back of head and was taken to the hospital.

Police say this is a non-life-threatening injury.

No one else was injured from the shooting, according to police.

The three suspects fled from the scene in a nearby car but police were able to later locate that car on Diamond Hill Road, and found the three suspects there as well.

Using a search warrant at the Diamond Hill address, police found the gun that matched the shell casings found at the scene over on Morin Heights Boulevard.
