Tip Challenge Strikes at Barrington Restaurant

Huge Tip for Servers at Barrington Restaurant

BARRINGTON, R.I. (WLNE) – Three servers at a Barrington restaurant have something to be extra thankful for this Thanksgiving.

Last Friday night, a couple of regulars at Blue Water Bar & Grill left them a tip of $2,100 on a $150 check.

A note on the back says, “So, I’ve been thinkin’ about the waitress challenge thing.  So I decided that the perfect time was ‘now’ right before Thanksgiving when I want to be thankful for ‘my girls’ Shannon, Melissa & Karen.”

All three of the servers have worked at the restaurant for a long time.  Melissa for 15 years, Karen for 17 and Shannon for 6 years.   To say they were shocked at this customer’s generosity is an understatement.  Melissa says, “It is overwhelming and humbling that people would be that generous.”

The couple wants to stay anonymous, only asking the three ladies to split the tip.  Each will get $700 right before the holidays and ahead of uncertain times for the restaurant industry in the coronavirus pandemic.

When asked what she’ll do with her share, Melissa says she simply plans to pay some bills because, “you can’t take anything for granted.”  A big relief at the perfect time.
