TIVERTON, R.I. (WLNE) — The Tiverton Fire Department is offering a $5,000 reward for information about a possible arson that happened at an antique store Friday morning.

Tiverton Fire says a patrol officer responded to a fire alarm going off at Briars Antiques on Main Road around 5 a.m., and spotted a small fire.

Firefighters quickly put out the fire, and damage was minimal.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but Tiverton Fire officials called the cause "suspicious in origin."

Given the suspicious nature of the fire, Fire Marshal Thomas Mello decided to post a $5,000 reward for any information leading to an arrest in the case.

Anyone with information should call the Arson Watch Hotline at (401) 383-7723.
