Several jars of tomato sauce pulled from the shelves at Palmieri’s Bakery, over concerns it contain a potentially deadly bacteria.

A routine health inspection on Tuesday revealed the bakery’s jarred sauces they sell could contain a deadly bacteria that causes botulism.

A health inspector found that after insufficient heating,

the sauces were left at room temperature for 24 hours prior to refrigeration, allowing the bacteria to potentially multiply to levels that could have caused serious illness or death.

The sauces in question have been pulled from the shelves. and the health department says the other food is safe to eat.
