Tougher penalties in place for ATVs, dirt bikes in Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – A Providence City Council committee approved tougher penalties for ATV and dirt bike violations in the city Monday night.

The ordinance will allow Providence Police to confiscate and destroy the vehicles that are used illegally.

This push comes as the City has seen an increase in dirt bikes and ATV’s being driven on roads and in parks in recent months.

Authorities say the proposal will go to the full City Council for a vote in May.
