Train Derails, Backing Up Traffic

One of two freight cars that derailed in East Providence Thursday has been uprighted and is back on the tracks at of ten o'clock.

The locomotive and a box car derailed at ten thirty in the morning. There weren't any leaks or environmental problems, but the cars blocked the intersection of Dexter and King Phillip Roads for most of the day.

It took two cranes, a backhoe, and several crews to clear the mess. Crews are still trying to figure out what caused that Providence and Worcester Train to jump the tracks.
